“MAD”建设中－MAD建筑师事务所作品展 "MAD UNDER CONSTRUCTION" －MAD Projects Design Exhibition

在当代中国快速和疯狂的建设情境下，大量无意识甚至反当代的建筑和城市空间正在越来越多的出现，在那些正在中国执业的大量中国和外国建筑师中，只有极少数对相应的社会和文化，以及未来中国的问题提出了思考，此次在东京画廊展出的北京MAD建筑师事务所的工作就是其中的代表。
MAD是当今中国最有潜力和影响力的年轻事务所，也是近两年迅速崛起并引起国际建筑界关注的中国建筑实践。 MAD由马岩松创立于2002年，早野洋介，党群先后于2003和2005年加入成为合伙人，他们具有在中国，日本，美国和英国的学习和工作背景，尤其是中日两国建筑师的合作使他们的视角更具有基于亚洲的国际性。今年早些时候MAD赢得了加拿大多伦多的超高层建筑--梦露大厦的国际公开竞赛，成为第一个获得国际大型建筑设计权的中国设计事务所，MAD今年还获得了纽约建筑联盟颁发的年度青年建筑师奖，并出现在多个重要的国际建筑和艺术展览中。
无论从西方的观点还是中国当今的评判体系看，MAD对当代社会批判性和对未来城市充满自然幻想的实践方式及作品都具有很大的争议，尽管好像人们都在试图从历史的角度理解这种现象，但至今仍然很少有从设计团体内部直接传达到外部的信息，这也是此次展览的意义。
“MAD建设中”有两层含义，一方面暗示了中国 “疯狂建设”的时代背景，另一方面好像是宣告MAD在经过了多年的未建/不建的理论化实践后已经进入实际建造的阶段。这次展览除了展示MAD的几个重要的代表作品外，还将展示MAD正在施工中的东京画廊办公室改造工地，和一个为画廊员工设计的临时办公空间装置。

As numberous massive constructions are carried out at incrediable speed in China, lots of buildings and city spaces which are devoid of consciousness or even against the modern age have been created. Although a great many Chinese and foreign architects are now practising in China, very few of them have concerned themselves with the social, cultural and the future issues of China. MAD architectural office, who is going to hold the exhibition in Tokyo Gallery, is one of the few who share these concerns.
MAD is an influential architectural office with immense potential, whose quick rise and eminent practice have gained international fame in the world of architecture over the past two years. MAD was founded by Yansong Ma in 2002, which was joined later by Yosuke Hayano and Qun Dang as partners in 2003 and 2005 respectively. They have worked and studied in China, Japan, U.S. and U.K., and the cooperation between Chinese and Japanese architects give their international perspective an Asian basis. Earlier this year, MAD won the international competition to design a high rising residential tower in Toronto, Canada(whose nickname is Marilyn Monroe tower), becoming the first ever Chinese architectural office to design a massive international project. MAD was also named Young Architects of 2006 by The Architectural League of New York and have presented at various important international architecture and art exihibitions.
Whether from the western point of view or judging by the contemporary Chinese critics, MAD’s works and practice methods which are usually critical of social issues and full of fantasies about nature of future city are both held in great controversy. Despite people’s attempts to understand the phenomenon from a historic perspective, there has been few messages delivered to the world beyong design realm, and this is why MAD is having this exihibition here.
“MAD Under Construction”bears two meanings: on the one hand it implies the “mad constructions”situation in China, on the other hand it proclaims that MAD’s projects are now under construction after years of theoretic practice. Apart from several major works of MAD, Tokyo Gallery’s office, which is under construction at the moment, and a temporary office space for the gallery staff are also included in the exihibition.
