Artist Statement
“Since I was young, I have been in love with Nature and the forms of living things. When I began to paint I felt immediately that I found the proper lauguage to express my that which I had in my heart concerned the Nature. My only goal is “Understand and Contemplate”, with hope that one day my work will become so alive to be like the life itself.
“To this end I have tried to remain as open as I can to what life presents me, and develop my art in accordance with my understanding and experiences. All of the forms and techniques I use come from what I have perceived in Nature.
“As I have studied Nature I have come more and more to believe that the medieval concept of the elements –Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Spirit, Void-come closest to revealing the inner workings and rhythms of the universe. For me the alchemical transformation of the world which gives birth to my works takes place when I am open enough to Nature to perceive in her forms the first moment of the Creation-before anything had a name-and I am trying to name things with line, form, and color.”

“Among its prudence and mildness, there is also passion and enthusiasm. The comprehension to brush ink, as well as the in-depth grasp to the media and its quality, is the major factor to form Feng’s artistic style. This style differentiates Feng from many of other Chinese Contemporary artists, who merely imitate the western modern formalist painting. ”
By Guo Xiaochuan
“Each stroke and line are drawn leisurely, dimly appeared; But occlude a closely structured relationship within, literally layer by layer while incessantly extending an imaginative space for the spectator, which is the colorful world flashed by the material world. Let us peacefully enjoy each point and line of Feng’s sketch. ”
By Liu Changchun
“Infusing life’s ideology into the painting, enabling the painting to avoid mechanic copying and deadly forming, making the art return to its own nature, it forms the artistic melody of Feng’s painting by his artistic fervency and alcoholic idiosyncrasy. Through this point of view, I feel that painting is just a media that Feng tries to convey his life, and it has more widely view behind the painting, which is the profundity of life’s liberation.”
